Ghana then and now with Pegi Furanna McIntosh

Pegi Furanna-McIntosh took a sabatical from her position as the Department Head for Student Services in a Vancouver High School to move to an isolated city in the Upper West Region of Ghana in January of 2012 with Cuso International for eight months.  Working with the teachers of the Wa Municipal schools of the Ghana Education Service, Pegi worked to help teachers and head teachers improve teaching practice through active learning strategies for English literacy, Phonics, and Science education.  She worked to create sustainable change by teaming up with National Volunteers to set up a reading literacy program in the community library and expanding the role of the Education Resource Centre to include workshops for students in remedial English and computer skill.  One of the most rewarding activities Pegi was involved with was working with 80 young women on improving thier reading skills to enable them to pass into the Junior High School and continue their education.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
