Q: Do you like to stay well-informed on the current events, and enjoy reading and discussing various topics for intellectual stimulation?
A: Well, you've come to the right place!
The premise is simple: We get together about every three weeks and discuss something interesting based on what the members find compelling in an news article, video segment, or a podcast. The topics can range from the serious to the inane, but we strive to discuss something that has enriching coverage and deep analysis. Click here to see a sample of our favorite, but non-exhaustive sources.
Our goal is to provide a friendly forum for people to come in person, sit down at a table for about two hours, and exchange views and discuss ideas over coffee or whatever beverage of their own choosing. The organizers will keep the discussions open and moving.
We try to keep meetup sizes relatively small to allow participation and interaction, keeping in mind what the venue will allow. Members can sign up for the waitlist if all the spots fill up. As people with RSVPs cancel, waitlisted members will be moved onto the RSVP list. Organizers will try to reasonably accommodate longstanding members who've had good past attendance as well as members who contribute by the way of an article suggestion or thoughtful comment.
How it works: Each meeting organizers select a theme and an article to go along with it. Members nominate and vote on a second article. All attending members of a meeting are expected to come prepared for discussion by having read both articles.
To encourage members to arrive early so meetings can end on time, we offer a pre-meeting topic. Usually a lighter discussion based on more immediate events. There may be an article attached, but reading of it is not required.
Join us, as we share thoughtful discussions on the topics that interest everyone!
