Full Moon Snowshoe Hike!

Moonlight Snowshoe Hike! So here is the plan. We meet at the Albertsons parking lot at 5:30PM. Figure out carpooling options. Then head off to have dinner at the Brewers Union pub in Oakridge: A family joint with good food and great REAL ALES. The moon will rise about 4:00PM, so if we get to the trail about 8:30-9PM it will be over head. Last time, the moon was so bright I didn’t need my light on the trail. But bring one anyway! You’ll need to rent snowshoes if you don't have them. Try Bergs ski shop or REI. Also if you plan to be a driver you will need two (2) one-day park passes. This will be an easy to moderate hike in the Gold Lake snow park. In oakridge we can decide what trails or shelter we can go to. NOTE: This is a trip to the snow. It will be cold. Dress for the occasion. NO cotton please. (no Jeans) Info on Gold Lake Snow Park. http://www.fs.fed.us/... About the Westview Loop http://www.fs.fed.us/... Thanks all for a great snowshoe last night, particularly to Trish and Bill for driving! I've uploaded my photos to my website at http://photo.srlarsen.com/Natur... . Sorry to be weird about it but their are questions about copyright if I upload them to Meetup directly. You can download them from my website if you right-click on the image and save. If you do want copies, please download them soon because I'll be watermarking them in a couple of days. -Scott

Thanks to Trish, Roy, and Michael for pulling the sled. The poles hit you in the back worse when the belt is loose. I'll switch to seat belt webbing for the belt, which is easier to adjust. Sled design video is at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=... (or search for DrPulk)

Great times! Slushy snow. It will be many moons before the next one (next year).

Really good fun, great bunch of people. Expect to see me on more hikes (or 'tramps' as we call them in New Zealand).

Great exercise outdoors, sled hitting my back over and over, good food, fun people, and a partridge in a pear tree

Can someone please let me know if I should try to rent my snowshoes today or tomorrow at Berg's? Thanks - want to limit my costs.
