Goodman Creek

Goodman Creek is a great little hike, not too far out from Eugene in a nice old growth forest. This is a great novice hike, about 4 miles roundtrip and relatively gentle. Although the guidebook claims 300 feet of vertical elevation, they are full of lies and trickery, expect more like 800 ft. Still though, there are no long ardurous climbs and it's an easier hike than Pisgah or the Butte. We'll take off at 10am and head to the trailhead about 40 minutes away. The hike meanders above and along Goodman Creek, ending up near some beautiful but small waterfalls were we will stop for a nice lunch. It's a very scenic and accessible hike, however be warned that if it's been raining you can expect a lot of mud, so dress appropriately. Also there is one small creek to cross, however it's less than ankle deep and there are some logs that can be used to skip the water.

Assuming we depart at 10, we should be back in Eugene by 2 or so, plenty of time to unwind before the work week and finish up all that pesky laundry.

To simply things a bit - I won't be bringing a dog (unless I bring a guest who has a car)

Michael, I'll be bringing my two hounds. The female is totally fine, but the male can get a bit growley at other males (male dogs, that is..!) sometimes, but not always. If he is being naughty I'll put him on leash and walk at the back.

I'm planning on doing a slightly longer trip than the rest of the group, so I'll mostly be on my own anyway. Also I may not bring the dog because of transport issues etc. - so by all means bring your one.

Roy- I think bringing dogs is great! I asked only because I was thinking of bringing mine and she doesn't always get along with other dogs, so I have her on-leash. If you were planning on doing off-leash I just wouldn't bring her or walk separately from the group - no prob.

I was thinking about maybe bringing one (it's a bit difficult without knowing who's car I'll be in). Are well controlled dogs off leash OK there? If someone rather I didn't bring a dog (for whatever reason) then I won't.

According to the description, we'll stop at the 2 mile point, not go on to Eagle's Rest. I'm hoping to start a fire and roast some hoddogs if it's OK with Chad. Should be fun!

I just mountain biked this trail a couple weeks ago, it's really pretty. At the top is Eagles Rest, it's a beautiful view. I may be moving into my new place this weekend, so not sure if I'll make this

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
