Oregon section of PCT

  • Anyone interested in hiking the Oregon section of the Pacific Crest Trail in summer 2013? Will take approximately a month to hike in total (approx. 460 miles), probably August, when it is most recommended.

I plan on a week hike this spring/ summer on the PCT. Do you have a section in mind? I did 35 miles last November from Summit Lake to Charlton Lake. I've been looking at the Sisters, three finger jack, Mt. Jefferson, & Mt. Washington area.

I am also planning on doing the Oregon section this summer. It will be in sections as well as I can't take a month off. I do hope to do a 2 week section in August. The other sections I'll split into shorter hikes starting in late June.

I am interested in hiking the PCT, but would like to do it in four sections at about 115 miles in a week. It would be hard for me to take off more than a week at a time from work. Anyone interested in doing a two day trial hike, maybe from Summit lake to diamond lake or any other 30-35 mile stretch.

Is this still in planning? I would like to do 7-10 day OR/CA border in Red Buttes Wild to Siskiyou Cascade Nat. Mon. ( or in reverse order) in the late spring/early summer 2015.

I am going to the Willamette music fest so I would be all in for a segment starting on the 19th of August. Perhaps pick up the PCT at Summit Lake or Hwy 58 and head North to the crossing at Hoodoo. Or start at Hoodoo and head North past Jefferson.

Jon--you seem to be the man with the info. I am definitely down for this; I love planning long distance hikes almost as much as I like hiking them. I would love to help with distance and gear info/food/water supply issues.

Hiked from Breitenbush Lk. to Santiam Pass. McKenzie Pass to SoSis. Interested in OR/CA to Crater Lk., Thielsen to SoSis, Breitenbush to the Gorge. Little interest in waterless stretches of Crater Lk. to Thielsen or McK. Pass to Santiam Pass. Watch out for camping at Crater Lk. The ranger's are using FLIR to find "stealth" campers (Federal land tickets aren't cheap!).

I could do more of it if the schedule was made for some breaks, spreading the time out for completion. Regardless I will do all the parts I can make it to.

I am self employed, so I am a definite maybe :)
I'd know better the closer we get to next summer. This sounds awesome.

I've been wanting to hike the PCT! I can't do the whole state, wouldn't be able to take time off work, but I'd gladly section-hike on a weekend. (One of these days I plan to hike the whole thing!)

That would be a dream come true. I would have to see about getting the time off work, but even if I can't I would like to learn how to plan for a hike like this!

So basically 15 miles a day for 30 days. I'm intrigued but I have to think about it a bit more.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
