Subject: [camping-162] Trip ideas and statement on last Sunday
First, I want to apologize for the confusion and disjointedness of the hike last Sunday. In the last few months we have had a couple of situations in which people turned back out of frustration. Responsibility these situations rest squarely on my shoulders. Information on the length and grade of the trail was not clearly specified. And in one situation the pace at which the group was moving was too fast.
Everyone having a good time is my primary goal on each of these trips. Having said that, we have a variety of members each with their level of experience
and personal goals. This variety is the groups strongest and weakest quality.
Starting this week I plan to have the first weekend of each month be an Introduction Hike. The objective is to give everyone a chance to get to know each other on an easy and relatively short trail. The 2nd week of the month will be a bit longer and a bit steeper. Leaving the last two weeks of the month for hikes like what we did last weekend, 15 miles over a moderate grade. This format gives a regular date for new people to join and get to know us, while providing some ramp up time for them to join in on the more strenuous hikes.
One thing that everyone can do that will help me out is to provide feedback on previous hikes and this new format. I am also looking for trail suggestions, starting with the Introduction Hike this weekend. If I can get some suggestions by Wednesday night I will get trail picked out and a time set that evening.
If you have any
questions or concerns feel free to email me.
I look forward to seeing everyone on the trail.
