Lake Bemidji State Park

I have reserved drive in site #18 at Lake Bemidji State Park May 23-26 (Memorial Day Weekend).  You will have to reserve your own campsite.  I will have a campfire at my site.  All I ask is a $5 donation per person.  The park has 11 miles of hiking trails, 5 miles of mountain bike trails and 1.5 miles of paved bike trails.  There is a 1/4 mile boardwalk through a bog.  The park has boat and canoe rentals.  At some time during the weekend I will be going to the new state park La Salle Lake and then to Itasca State Park.

E-mail me if you have any questions.

Thanks again Brett for organizing this. It was great to meet everyone, and a great weekend. Brett, I left a fiver under your umbrella; hope you found it.
Look for me again, probably in the fall.

Is anyone else going to be getting there like later pending dark?

    Wonderful, Patty, thank you!
Well, this trip is for me to get myself organized so that I can do more of these trips in the future, more easily. I am finding out that it takes an awful freakin' lot of equipment for one person to camp. It will be a long night; miles to go before I sleep. I'll take a ballet class tomorrow and then grab the Hourcar from south Minneapolis and head north. See you there!

Well, I'm here! So where is everybody!?! Ahh, kidding, sort of. I am here though and it is beautiful. Look forward to meeting everyone tomorrow!

Looking forward to it. I can't leave until between 3 and 4 pm, so I hope I get there before dark to set up my tent! I may try to find one of you for an extra set of hands with the tent poles.

I didn't reserve because I thought I was going to have my son this weekend and he's not a camper. All camping spots are full except for same day ones. I guess I'm a "maybe". The reservations rep said it would be best to get there at 8am when they open an)d try to get a site, but its a 4+ hour drive so not sure if I want to get up at 2-3am (actually I don't go to sleep normally until 6am so the time issue is a major issue). If I do get a spot, I only camp with electricity. Grew up camping w/o it and love to have it, especially if it is going to rain (predicted on Sunday and Monday). I will think some more about this and update my Yes/No as soon as I can.

I have not heard anything about this being cancelled either. Sorry Karen for any confusion. Hopefully you will reconsider and join us.

When I read this trip is cancelled due to high waters... I told my boss that I can work Saturday. Please, get it together and make a final decision ASAP and/or reschedule in June. Thanks!

YEAH! It's THAT time of year again! So, I got my campsite reserved! Wondering where everyone else's campsite is? I'll be in #24. Where are you? And I'll have my same little cute fury kids with me too, Faith and Honey. :=) Can't wait to see the old and meet the new.

OK, I probably should have done this earlier, but I reserved #9, which is a little far away, but not too bad, I guess. See everybody then!

Janet, you can call the reservation line at[masked] or to the park's website and click the reservations links. I would suggest looking at the campground map on the park's website so you can see the layout of the campsite and loops.

OK, so how do I get a campsite near yours? #19, or is #18 a group site?
    Thanks,

Would love songs with a guitar! Most everyone cooks their own food but we eat together. Some smores or other snacks we share. Looking forward to meeting you.

Do you guys cook any meals together or is it all on your own? I have not done much solo camping and I'm still figuring out what kind of gear I want to get, like a propane stove, etc. All I have right now really is a tent and bedding.
Would you like a singer with guitar at your campfire?

    March 15, 2014

    • Janet S.

Actually, since i spent like 3 days with no electricity last summer after the storm in Minneapolis, I have been thinking I'd like to get a propane stove. I guess I am wanting to go camping, but it's not something I think I would enjoy doing by myself, and that is the point of contacting your group. Do you do stuff together? Or is everyone more on their own in their own campsite? I can see making my own food, because I can be kind of picky about what I eat. But would I be cooking my own food by myself at my own campsite, or are you close enough together that you can cook your own food and socialize while you do it?

      March 15, 2014

    • Brett

Most of the time we are in group campsites so everyone is together. When we are in drive in sites like this trip some will cook at their own sites because they have a lot of stuff and others will cook at the social site were we have our campfire. Whatever works for you is best. We usually do things together. There might be a group that goes hiking and a group that goes biking, some might want to sit around the campfire and read, and others might want to go fishing or swimming. You won't be required to do anything but usually there will be a few things to choose from.

Janet the group eats together most of the time and we hike together and play games etc. Just come and try it out you will have fun. I have a lot of camping gear so do others we will all be glad to let you use it. Also planing what to cook as a group would be kind of hard bring what you like to eat it will work

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
