St. Croix State Park

Let's go to St. Croix State Park August 10-12. We'll be there in time for the beginning of the Perseid meteor shower. We'll be in Group Campsite #1. The cost will be $25 per person which covers the cost of the site and firewood. The park is the largest state park and has lots of trails, plus a swimming beach, bike trails and canoe rentals. Check out the parks website for more information.

From the parks website:

With over 34,000 acres and two great rivers—the Saint Croix River, which is a National Scenic Riverway, and the Kettle River, a State Wild and Scenic River—there's so much to do. Explore the rivers by canoe or with a fishing pole. Swim at Lake Clayton or climb a fire tower.

E-mail me if you have any questions.

Another great camping experience with friendly people, good food, awesome campfires, and even a chance to do some canoeing on the beautiful St. Croix River.

It's cold up here this weekend, so come prepared with some warm clothes and sleepingbag/blankets. I found it difficult to come from so much hot weather to this and have enough warm stuff, so I'm borrowing stuff from a friend. See you soon.

I will be renting a canoe or kayak and may be looking for a canoe partner. I called the canoe rental ([masked] ). 2 trips are available. A 4 hour morning trip for $50 a canoe and a 2 hour afternoon trip for $40 a canoe. Group discounts are available. They suggested calling ahead and reserving you canoe or kayak.

Tom, I love to be a partner. I am a good front person and has been kayaking and canoeing for a couple of years. If the day is nice it would be great to the longer trip.

I'd like to do the afternoon 2 hour canoe trip. Are we making group reservations? Does anyone know what the requirements for a "group" reseervation are?

Does anyone what to share the cost to rent a canoe for Sat?

    July 18, 2012

  • Brett

There are canoe rentals available. I do not know the price. You are on your own for all meals. Usually people have snacks to share. Most people have their own tent but others have extra tents to share if someone needs one.

Vicki - The website says canoe rentals and shuttle service is available. I'm in for canoing! This will be my first camping event with the group, but my understanding is that breakfast and lunch is on your own, but dinner is a more "shared" meal (i.e.: informal potluck). Can someone verify that this is correct? I believe that everyone will have their own tents. I have an extra if anyone needs one - it's a big one and can fit four very comfortably and has good head room.

Are people bringing canoes or kayaks? Are there rentals available? Will anyone be carpooling? Also, I am new to this group so does everyone bring their own food or is there some pot luck items? Does everyone bring their. Own tents?
