October's theme is The Cruel Sea - naval games from any time period. As always, the theme is merely a guideline for play - you can always play any wargame or consim you prefer - the idea behind the theme is to get people to play games or explore eras or systems that they might not otherwise. Remember to pre-arrange your games and opponents on our message board in this thread: http://www.meetup.co m/canucksamuck/messa ges/boards/thread/77 65531 Newcomers are always welcome. You don't need to bring a game if you don't have one; other members usually bring far more than are necessary. We will be playing in the parlour of Forest Hill United Church, located at 2 Wembley Road, just north of Eglinton on Bathurst Street. Look for paper signs posted on the doors to guide you to the room. When you approach from the parking lot, go to the doors on your left, not the main doors into the sanctuary. Plenty of parking is available in the streets next to the church and you may also park in the lot if there are spaces available. To get to the church by TTC, take the #32 bus east (if coming from Eglinton West station on the University line) or the same bus going west (if coming from Eglinton station on the Yonge line). Both buses run frequently. Get off at Bathurst and walk one (short) block north on the west side of Bathurst. There is no admission fee, but a small donation to the church's property committee is appreciated.

IMPORTANT NOTICE Due to scheduling conflicts, the Toronto Area Boardgaming Society's June meet-up is being held on the same Saturday that our usual fourth Saturday of the month meet-up is held. For a number of reasons, including the fact that many of our Canucks Amuck members are also members of TABS, we will not be hosting the Canucks Amuck meeting at the Forest Hill United Church this month. Instead, members of Canucks Amuck are encouraged to come to the Toronto Area Boardgaming Society's "TABScon XIX" TABSCon is currently held at the Trinity Presbyterian Church - York Mills which is located at 2737 Bayview Ave., just south of the 401. This event will be held in west hall at the street level at the north end of the church. Admission for the day is $5, which can be paid to any TABS organizer, identifiable by the "happy face" buttons they wear. TABScon is a large event, attracting well over 100 gamers every three months. All manner of table top games are played, from wargames to abstract euros. I will be hosting a Down in Flames: Aces High tournament starting at 10:30 AM, running until 12:30. To schedule games with other Canucks Amuck members, please post in this thread: http://www.meetup.co m/canucksamuck/messa ges/boards/thread/69 66924
