Middle Fork of Lytle Creek!

Howdy Folks! Let's do a canyon today. Any requests? Let's pick one.

NOTE:  Since this is not a guided trip and because canyoneering is a team sport where every member should be able to rappel well, inspect anchors, build new anchors, rig for all contingencies, manage ropes efficiently and contribute in every aspect of the adventure, anyone who's profile doesn't reflect the appropriate training or sufficient experience will not be allowed to participate.  Hope you understand.

We will meet at 8:00am, park cars on the adjacent road which should have plenty of space and shuttle to the trail head from there. There is one swimmer/pothole that is unavoidable, but brief. Would be great if someone could bring a GPS with our drop-in location entered .. it's sometimes difficult to find. Beta is at:
    http://www.dankat.com/advents/midlyt.htm

An Adventure Pass (available at REI and other places) or a National Parks Pass on your dashboard is required to park at the trailhead. If you have one, please bring it. Plan on bringing your ropes and webbing/rapides, first aid kit, etc and we'll determine what to bring at the cars.

My # is[masked] .. call if you're gonna be a few minutes late ... if you're more than a few minutes late we'll leave without you. Sorry!

since the meeting place moved to Valero, will we still need an adventure pass? I don't have an adventure pass but can pick one up today.

      July 13, 2013

    • Klaus G.

only the cars going to the trailhead need an adventure pass .. if someone doesn't have one in their car, they will get a ticket for exactly the same price as an adventure pass ... no penalties.

Check out the funky backup on the last single bolt rappel. If the bolt, which was a spinner in the past, failed........Better to use the tree up slope to the right--it's a little more upright than the backup one. Conditions were picture perfect when we did it 7-7. Enjoy.

I faxed in a request for a permit for 12 for Middle Lytle ... I won't post it in the title until I actually get approved. And, yes, it was with the help of John Caffrey! .. THANKS!

    • Jesse Van G.

Klaus, how do you know you need to pull a permit, and where do you get one? I have never pulled a permit for canyoneering?

      June 29, 2013

    • Klaus G.

Research. Some land managers require them; some don't. Most beta tells you if it's needed and how to get it Otherwise ... ask around!
