Practice at Mission Trails Regional Park

Practice only, no instruction. Experienced only, meaning those who have completed the three day canyoneering course, or have done three technical canyons or the equivalent. Required equipment: helmet, harness, descender, safety tether and three locking crabs. I have community gear, but bring your own if you like. I have ropemen and VT prussiks and totem for those who want to practice ascending, transitions or passing knots. Meetup at gate just east of the Visitor Center. If you haven't joined us before, please be on time as it is difficult to describe where we practice. I am not an instructor, guide or guru. You will be responsible for your own safety as well as looking out for everyone else. Afterwards, we'll head to the chill lounge for a quick repast and importantly, planning canyon descents.

    John,

We really enjoyed the experience. You were great at teaching us some new skills and we look forward to future trips with the group.

Hi Tracy, think of what you want to accomplish. Don't be limited by the ideas above. We will practice whatever the group wants to do. I have several descenders if someone wants to try out something different. There are a dozen different anchors to rap from, with a couple of them side by side. See you soon.

Miramar Air Show has been canceled at the last minute. Ignore earlier post. Bring at least one quart of water. Forecast is for warm weather. Some of our anchors are partially or fully shaded and there's usually a nice breeze.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
