7 Teacups 3C III: Special Scuba Dive Edition

Here's your opportunity to explore the 7 Teacups in this special trip. 2 Certified Scuba Divers and Canyoneers will be scuba diving each of the 7 Teacups looking for sunken treasure. We already know a few things that are down there, but we're keeping that a secret ;)

You must be willing to carry between 30-40 lbs in your pack for the 1 hour approach and the 1 hour hike out as there is a lot of group gear to carry associated scuba gear.

***DO NOT SIGN UP if you are not willing to carry 30-40 lbs of gear. We will be weighing gear at the trailhead to evenly distribute it.***

Seven Tea Cups Beta (3C III) - We'll hike about 1 hour to reach the drop in for Seven Tea Cups. There are at least 5 rappels up to 60'. It may require rappelling in waterfalls, swimming, and wading. Plan on spending most of the day descending and exploring the teacups.

***ONLY the 2 Certified Scuba Divers will be doing the actual diving. There is no need or room for additional divers.***

*WETSUITS ARE MANDATORY AND MUST BE WORN. DO NOT SIGN UP IF YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO WEAR YOUR WETSUIT. *

Agenda:

We will be leaving LA early Saturday morning and arrive at the trailhead around 9:00 am. We will then hike to and descend the 7 Teacups and retire to the campground at night. We will then depart Sunday morning back to LA.

The cost for the trip is the campsite fee which is $48 divided by 8 people or $6 payable in person on the day of the trip.

I have 2 campsites booked for Saturday Night at a campground nearby.

Please Note: THIS IS NOT A BEGINNER TRIP. Attendees MUST be comfortable swimming and disconnecting in water. Attendees MUST have taken the Uber Adventures 3-day Technical Canyoneering Course and or have extensive experience to attend this trip. Please make sure your profile is current and up to date.

This is not a guided trip.  You are ultimately responsible for your own safety.  By signing up for this event, you agree to assume all risk associated with your participation in it.

Any recent reports on the water level? Last I heard was 3 weeks ago and it was starting to get low

    August 5, 2014

    • Jeremy

It is low. All hydraulics are pretty non existent. But the jumps are still great fun. We could almost wade across the kern about 2 & 1/2 weeks ago.

I went with a group a couple years ago and the third (?) rappel, the one where you rappel out of the spout, our group lost quite a bit of stuff. A Canon cam in a dive case, a pair of Maui Jim sunglasses, and I personally lost a Kodak Zx3 cam. (the waterfall ripped it out of the zippered pouch it lives in)

I don't care about recovering any of that stuff...we've since made our peace. But if by any chance the Kodak Playsport cam turns up, I'd really be grateful if the pics on the card could find their way to me. You're welcome to the cam and the card if they still work. But I proposed to my wife two days before we did that canyon...so some of the pics would be nice to have. =)

Hi Taison, that sounds to me to be lost in the 4th teacup. We will give that one a good going over and let you know what we find. I'll return to anything we find that you lost...Yup i'm 1 for 1 for retrieving engagement related pics, so let's hope we can make it 2 for 2!

Thanks David. I'd be super amazed if it turns up or that even if any of it would survive, but I've heard stranger stories. I really wish I could join you guys, I've thought about going up with a pony tank myself since I know roughly where it might have wound up. But good stuff...happy hunting!!!

Just hope there is no scuba team scheduled to go the week before :p or if there was a group that already went. How are you guys going to divide the treasure?
