King William Fair and Parade

EVENT DETAILS

What sets this event apart is the beauty of its historic setting in the King William neighborhood. The day begins a funky parade at 9:00 E Guenther Street and Eagleland Drive. Following the parade, the fair will offer art and craft vendors, music and dance, kids activities, and food and beverages.

PARKING

The website’s parking section has several different options for transportation and parking options: http://kwfair.org/transportation-parking-king-william-fair/

A free lot is listed at 1901 S. Alamo, just a little more than ½ mile from the meeting location. Please be aware it will probably fill up fast.

MEETING LOCATION

Fair Gate at King Williams Street and E Guenther St.

TENTATIVE PLAN

Meet at the gate and then find a spot for the parade. For those only interested in the parade, feel free to find a spot between E. Guenther St and Eagleland before entering the fair area. After the parade, we will enter the fair area to explore the fun and events. Before we split up, we will decide on a meeting location and time for those who want to share a bite and compare photos.

Didn't get a good spot for the parade but still got some good shots. We didn't go to the fair but we walked down to the Riverwalk and had lunch. We had a nice day. My husband now wants to buy bikes so we can ride around down there. lol

This was a fun event. There were lots of colorful characters in the parade. The event included fun activities for families, and lots of art and food booths. We went in the A.M., so the temperature was comfortable and, while there were lots of people, the area was large enough to handle it without feeling too congested.

I really want to go, but am not familiar with downtown at all.. Any ideas about parking around there without walking 2 miles?? :-)

Sorry but I am not very familiar with parking in this part of downtown. I posted what was on the fairs website. Hopefully someone else might have some better ideas. Fingers crossed. :-)

I found the free site they were talking about on Google earth, and also found one a little closer at the San Antonio Housing Authority parking lot straight up Guenther st... They are closed on saturdays, so I would assume that it would be fair game to park there as they have no fences or gates there...

Since the parade starts at 9:00, would a change to an 8:30 meetup time give everyone time to purchase tickets and select a shooting location?

I will not be able to be there at 8am since that day is the fight for air walk/run and I am participating with a team from my company, but will try to get there later that day,,,

    • Jennifer G.

No problem. The nice thing is that the event takes place all day. Only the parade is early so you will still be able to have lots of fun. :-)
