An afternoon at McLaren Park

We seldom venture away from San Francisco's northern edge. This game will take place in the city's second biggest park, a place far too few citizens know about.

We'll begin with some sort of warmup game, then discuss rules and variants, divide into two groups, and begin chasing flags.

Our first game will employ an interesting suggestion made by one of our own: no one goes to jail unless tagged while carrying the flag.

Those that wishes to will go to dinner together afterward.

I feel you guys about the pain and soreness. I know I was talking sh:t out there, but my body was talking sh:t to me afterwards. LOL I had leg cramps and even felt one coming on in church.

Trè, the games are always twice as fun when you play. You are welcome to trash talk at all our events. In fact, you're not welcome if you don't.

Aside from a few (ok maybe a lot) of cuts and bruises, it was a great time!

I am sore in several fleshy places, and the thorn cuts along my calf are dramatic.

I wonder how the guy who hit the picnic table is doing.

Haha, I'm doing great actually. The game was awesome, and everyone I met there was the same. Someone should probably make sure there isn't any structural damage to that picnic table though.

Would my 13 & 6 yo boys be too young to join the game? Along with one parent, of course...

    August 15, 2013

    • Sam G.

I think 13 would be okay, but a 6-year-old would feel out of place and could not have a meaningful role on a team. He is welcome to spectate, if he'd enjoy that.

Thinking the 13 yo could even have the potential to be one of the better players.

So if you get tagged without the flag in enemy's territory, then can you keep attacking or do you have to go back to your own territory and try again?

    August 11, 2013

    • Sam G.

Normally, any player tagged by a foe while on that foe's territory goes directly to jail for a lengthy incarceration. But we're going to try something different for one game this month: anyone without the flag can shrug off a tag while on enemy territory. Basically, everyone can run right up to the flag withot fear. As soon as they touch the flag, fear takes hold. So, in this rare instance, yes, you can keep attacking. And I doubt anyone would bother to tag you.

Will be my first time any tips on good things to bring, a lunch or ice chest?

    August 8, 2013

    • Sam G.

Water, bandages, extra layers of clothing. No food needed, as we'll go out for dinner after a few hours of playing. Best to wear long pants.

Roman and I'll head to the park early. If anyone would like a ride, let me know.

That new rule is interesting. It seems more like ultimate frisbee mix with capture the flag or something

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
