CaFA Film Nights @ Nicholas

Come join us for a brand new year of sharing Caribbean films and the work of Caribbean filmakers. Check out the lineup for our first screening this year.

Animated Short by ANSAR SATTAR

Animae Caribe’s 2008 Award Winning Short Film, "One Night in Piarco,” was Sattar’s way of drawing awareness to a small outbreak of Dengue fever in Trinidad & Tobago in 2008. The film explores a late night scenario between an immigration officer and a cute, yet most unwelcome guest. (Trinidad & Tobago)

Dramatic Short by IAN HARNARINE

In rural Trinidad, Dhani struggles to support himself and his mother by selling doubles (Trinidad’s quintessential street food). When his estranged father returns from Canada unexpectedly, Dhani must decide if he will help save his father’s life despite their strained relationship. Doubles With Slight Pepper is the winner of the 2012 Genie Awards (Canada’s equivalent of the Academy Awards), for “Best Live Action Short Drama.” (Trinidad & Tobago)

Documentary Short by WYATT BARDOUILLE

The award-winning film, Dominica: Charting a Future for Paradise, is a story about the nature island of Dominica. It is a story of vision and determination – about how this small Caribbean country overcomes the challenges of nature, limited resources and a stagnant population to sustain itself as an independent nation. The film is the winner of the “Best Documentary Short Award,” at the Third World Independent Film Festival. (Dominica)

Hi guys, I have been wanting to come to this meet-up for ages. I was looking forward to tonight but fell ill on Tuesday. I'll stop by if I'm better.
