Text : Two Essays on Analytical Psychology, vol. 7, from Jung's Collected Works from The Bollingen Series.

WE WILL DISCUSS PART ONE (pp.1--119)

Author : Carl Gustav Jung

Translator : R.F.C. Hull

REMINDER:

This event is a free-form, roundtable discussion of readings from a book about or inspired by the ideas of Analytical (Jungian) Psychology and the Transpersonal perspective. We ask that members come prepared with passages or themes from the reading(s) that they wish to discuss with the group so that each discussion will focus on that which grabbed us each with the greatest force.

I found a copy via the New York Public Library. You can search their website and it will show you which branch has copies available. Then, you can put it on hold for pick-up.

FYI: i walked into Alabaster Bookstore on 4th avenue, off 12th street, around the corner from Strand Books. Coincidentially, i saw a copy of Volume 7 for $8. Not in the best condition (lots of highlighting) however all the pages were included. Look fair for the price.

I sense i may have sent you and everyone else to a bogus site. Perhaps i should have explored it prior to forwarding it. My apologies.

I'm only familiar with Volume 7, from the CWs by Bollingen Series. It consists of two parts. Each part is composed by a series of essays. As stated above, we will discuss part one, "on the psychology of the unconscious" (1917).

"..the growth of culture consists , as we know, in a progressive subjugation of the animal in man. It is the process of domestication which cannot be accomplished without rebellion on the part of the animal nature that thirsts for freedom" (p.19, paragraph 17, Vol. 7). This reminds me of Stevenson's "The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde", and Hesse's 'Steppenwolf".
