Principles of Bowmaking

In this class we will explore the ancient art of heirloom bowmaking. See a presentation of the hand tools and techniques used for centuries by bowyers to create long-lasting bows. Learn how to make a linen bowstring and your own quickie bow. We will also experience shooting a few of these traditionally handcrafted wooden bows and arrows. Beyond simple survival bows, these are works of art, and the experience of using them is a unique opportunity. This class is limited to only 8 students. Sign up early to reserve a spot. Bring a picnic lunch and stay for the afternoon Archery Club.

Instructor: Johnny Waken, a practiced craftsman and primitive archer who has been making bows for over 15 years.
