This is a very small group with a lot of events, and one foundation attitude of the group is that people meet each other frequently and so it's easier to make friends. The top size is round about 200 - I'm sorry I can't manage more people than that, even with all the enthusiastic help I get.
But to get on with what this group is about ...
If you want to do something a bit unusual or quirky which doesn't cost too much (and which is preferably free); if you're spending too much time on the sofa watching forgettable tv; if you want to meet new people and do something a little bit different, then this is the group for you.
The events are a little like a box of chocolates - some may be your thing, some may be something you would never ever consider in a month of Sundays. One of my hobbies is looking for events which sound like fun, so if there's an event listed, it's something which I fancy.
Of course, just because I like the look of something doesn't mean that everyone else will as well. So the way the group is set up is that every active member has the chance to organise events themselves, with the caveats that they don't clash with other events if possible and (naturally) aren't disrespectful.
The expectation for this group is that people will attend one event at least every couple of months - consequently, I've tried to encourage day, evening and weekend events, so there's a good range of times, opportunities and subjects. I sympathise with people who have busy lives - I have one myself, as I said above - but this group is not for people who join then don't go to anything.
However, if there's a very good reason why you can't attend events, but want to stay in the group, like travel, exams, sickness or family emergencies, then please do let me know before I make the fateful decision.
People here are very friendly and welcoming and I hope they have just as good a time as I do. If I had to describe this group in three words, it would be Impulsive, Curious and Great Fun. Wait, that's four words ...
