What excites you about front end development

I built my first ghetto HTML page in 1997, and I'm excited to see how far the platform has advanced. I really like to write apps that run 100% in the browser, because it's a great model for scaling -- more users = more resources, for free. I have a perverse pleasure of pushing CSS to its limits to avoid writing JavaScript for presentation. Some people who know me say that I only do this so that I won't have to write tests.

Are you a designer or a developer? How would you rate your CSS skill level (1 - 10, 10 being awesomest)

8 I taught introductory CSS classes at Google and MIT. I was a go-to person for CSS while interning at Dropbox. I know my way around most properties, but I haven't yet built a popular framework or written a book.

I'm a Computer Science PhD student at MIT. I taught introductory HTML, CSS, and JavaScript at Google and MIT. I like to build Ruby on Rails applications, and I like to use SCSS and CoffeeScript. I hope to build a CSS+JavaScript game one day.
