MEETS - South Bellevue - Steady/Moderate/Brisk/Strenuous

Come join us for the Mid-week Eastside Evening Training Series. Ride leaders for this week are:

Strenuous – James Coliz and Bob Dennis
Brisk – Frieder Mack and Laurie Bakke
Moderate – Rob Latino and Bob Cornwell
Steady – Heidi Schillinger and Jen Korten

Ride Director this week: James Coliz

This week's route: Newcastle Hills 20.8 mi, 1443'. See map for details.

Please print a cue sheet and bring it with you.  This is a somewhat complex neighborhood route.

PLEASE RSVP ahead of time if you plan to ride with us so we can recruit additional ride leaders as necessary. It's not required, but would be MUCH appreciated.

Midweek Eastside Evening Training Series – The MEETS rides are held Wednesday evenings at 6 pm. These training rides incorporate local hills between 20-25 miles and from ~1200 to 2000 feet of elevation. Four paces are offered: Strenuous (18-20 mph on flats); Brisk (16-17 mph on flats); Moderate (14-16 mph on flats), and Steady (12-14 mph). All use a common course each week. Rides are also be posted on the Cascade Daily Rides Calendar.

Riders should be able to sustain the appropriate pace for their selected group, read a cue sheet, change a flat (and have the requisite equipment), and have a positive attitude! Faster riders and better climbers are welcome to join but for them the ride becomes self-paced and self-guided. Riders can ride on their own, in small groups, or with the appropriate pace ride leader. A limited number of cue sheets will be available at ride start so please print your own just in case. The final route and cue sheets will be available the weekend prior to each ride.

Rest stops: There are no planned rest stops as these are short rides. There is a restroom at the park and ride but is a little distance away, so please plan accordingly.

Regroup policy: This is a training series, so we ride with the best interest of the group in mind. Riders may need to fall back to a slower pace group, unless you are riding in the last group, in which case the group will regroup as needed to avoid dropping riders. We want everyone to ride hard and have fun and there are multiple pace options to support all riders so no one should feel left behind. Please make sure that you print a cue sheet in case you want to ride ahead or get separated for some reason. Please make sure to print your contact information clearly on the waiver so that we can reach you as necessary.

Good to see everyone tonight, and thanks for bringing the sunshine! We got a nice tour of Newcastle.

Just to check... the Brisk (blue) is still 16-18 for tonight, right? It's only the Strenuous that is pushing full speed? I'm planning for Brisk, with Moderate as a fall back plan.

And if we run into Brad, we may gain 5-10 mph ;)

I had so much fun riding with the brisk group tonight. Great weather, no wind, challenging climbs, excellent leadership, and good comrades. I was still pushing hard on my ride home to Seattle.

Moderate group - Great ride today! I can tell you guys are getting stronger. There may be some future ride leaders in the group. Hint hint. If you're looking for a challenge this weekend, I recommend Jake Wright's moderate Renton to Alki coffee run on Saturday. Great route for great weather. And if you're riding CTS, I'll see you guys on Sunday (Green 2).

Hey, I just can't get to the East side easily at this time of day. Have to cancel yet again. :-(. I'll ride over to W Seattle.

Did a (chilly and wet) pre-ride tonight with Jen Korten. We noticed one major issue on the cue sheet. At mile 14.7 it is a left turn onto Newport Way (not right). A couple of other street names that were wrong when heading in the proper direction, but they weren't major issues.

Thanks. Updated the cue sheet for the mp14.7 and the problem Jen sent at mp7.9.

Tonight the high pace group will be full Strenuous, not Brisk Plus. This reflects the reality of what we have really been running on MEETS. It's possible we may develop a pack of riders who are somewhat in-between, so Brisk Plus may make a comeback.

Added a cue sheet, link is above. Note that this is complex neighborhood route. On average, one cue every 1/4 mile. If groups get spread out, a cue sheet will be especially handy.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
