Auburn to Black Diamond Bakery (Steady pace 12-14 mph)

Ride leader:  Sue Krezelak

Distance:  29 miles

Pace:  Steady

Terrain:  Mostly flat with one steep (9-10%) climb.  The climb is only ¾ of a mile long.  Short, sweet, and a workout to earn that pastry at the bakery!

Weather:  Showers cancel

We will start this ride from the gravel parking lot that is across the street from the sound transit station and The Station Bistro in Auburn and ride to the Black Diamond Bakery.  This ride is mainly flat with a gradual gentle climb up the Green Valley to Black Diamond.  There is one steep but short climb.  Meet at the parking lot early enough to sign the ride waiver, hear the route details, and review the SMART riding.

Interestingly enough, I was looking for future meetups, came across this one and realized I think I ran into a few of you at the bakery yesterday. It was a good day for a ride albeit a tad warm!

Hi Jacob! I bet we did cross paths at the bakery yesterday! It was a gorgeous day and we saw so many riders out on their bikes enjoying the sunshine and yes I think it was a tad bit too warm but I won't complain too much! :)

Yes John, that was me chugging along that big hill :-). Hard but good. Especially on the way back. BTW, I had 2 flats before that hill but I did it.

You are totally awesome Cassandra! I wish I could have met and rode with you yesterday! Sorry you caught the train and missed us but good for you for riding the course and earning your scone at the bakery. It was a gorgeous (and warm day) and I'm happy you got to ride! Next time!

    Sue,
I'm riding down from Burien. Not sure if I'll make the start but I'll try to hook up with you along the way.

What time do you expect to be back at the starting point. I have to be back in Seattle by 1:30 and I'm trying to figure out if I have enough time to do this ride.

Riding a steady pace (12-14 mph) and going a distance of 29 miles figuring in our stop at the bakery for our break I am estimating we will be back around 12:30. But I'm not guaranteeing because things can happen. A mechanical issue or flat. I hope this helps.\

Thanks for your comments Susan. I have a good road bike and this would be my first group ride as well as on the street. I have to start somewhere , and think I know the hill. Uggg. Not sure but what the heck. I'll flip a coin between Iron horse trail this one Sunday. Thanks so much for the info.
