Ernie Maxwell Trail (Idyllwild), 5 miles, easy

Our Meetup group member Rochelle is also a hike leader for the Desert Trails Hiking Club and she has generously invited us to her next Desert Trails hike!

This lovely (mostly shaded) hike gains only 500' over 2.5 miles, with an easy downhill 2.5 mile return.  Dogs are allowed on this trail and love the stream crossing.  We will hike in what some call "reverse", starting from the Southridge side.  The turnaround point will be at the Humber Park end. This method eliminates any need for an Adventure Pass.  This hike has some fantastic views, including Lily Rock.  Perhaps we will see some climbers on Lily Rock if we are lucky!

Bring water and snacks.  We'll stop for lunch after the hike at an Idyllwild restaurant to reward our efforts!

We will carpool from Palm Desert - please either have a full tank of gas, or a few dollars (gas money) to give to the person driving.  Please arrive a few minutes before 8:00 am - carpools will leave on time!

PARK AT THE LOW WALL NEXT TO EL PASEO IN FRONT OF THIS STORE (Clementine):

Lunch will be at the Mile High Cafe, merely because its right where we turn off to the trailhead. Recent reviews are mixed so we shall see! I checked the road, it is in good condition. We have about 2 miles on a well graded dirt road,,nothing like last weeks!
