Re: [cavalierspaniel-48] peeing in the house?

I agree that your pup is probably marking over and over on already smelly spots. A possible silver lining to all of this: You might be able to get his peeing in the house confined to a wee wee pad. Put the wee wee pad in a spot that he is already marking and that is an acceptable (to you) place for the pad. Deodorize every other spot as best you can.  Then when your pup goes on the wee wee pad reward with whatever is most rewarding ( kisses, praise or a treat). At least you will confine the peeing to one spot and you will have a pup who can relieve him or herself if you ever get stuck in traffic etc. this what I did with my Joey after he started to pee in the house after a  poorly trained "visitor" dog  lifted his leg and marked up Joey's home turf (and our carpet!) We had a real problem for a while, but it turned out well. Now Joey goes both inside and outside. Good luck!!!

I have a 4 1/2 year old male Blenheim and he's started peeing in the house - something he's never done before. It first occurred a few times about a month ago. I took him to the vet, they ran a lot of tests and determined that it was behavioral. So I started taking him out more.

Today, he did it again. Three times! He was outside a lot today and had many opportunities to pee. As far as I know, it's always on the same rug (a beige sisal). Has anyone else experienced something like this? Am I not giving him enough attention? Could there be a medical issue here that the vet didn't see last time? I'd love to hear any thoughts.

Thanks!
