Kayaking the Holston River (Postponed)

IMPORTANT PLEASE READ: CHECK BACK AFTER 7PM THE NIGHT BEFORE:  Holston Dam does not release their generating schedule until the evening prior.  So we have no idea what time we are going until the evening prior.

The river is too low to paddle when the dam is not generating.  But we won't know generating schedule (they do it multiple times every day but not always at same time) until a few days prior to the event.  So check back the night prior after 7 PM and when we know a time for sure we will post it here in place of this paragraph.

Need directions to the let out?  Click on the links at the bottom:

We will rendezvous at the let OUT.

If you do not own your own kayak, you can rent one from the CPA if you are a student for $15.  Comes with kayak, paddle, and life vest. They also have a couple of 2 person tandem kayaks for $25.

Hey Guys, taking my wife and daughter kayaking down the flat water of the Holston River. But even though it's flat, would love to have the company of more experienced paddlers... or anyone else that would like to join.

CLICK HERE FOR GOOGLE DIRECTIONS TO LET OUT (WHERE WE ARE CAMPING)

After let out you can camp with us (optional) on a private river island campground.  This is kind of a car side camping trip. Bring what you would for that.  If you are coming just for the camping, call us early that morning to estimate what time we will be there.  Our contact info is in the comments.

I threw this gif image here... but this is a flat water river.  No white water.

We'd planned on getting out onto the water tomorrow and this seems like a good trip! We'll probably be out there sooner (we have a tandem kayak and a single ocean kayak that I've "converted" to a tandem) but will keep an eye out for you all!
