I will be stopping briefly at the CPA at 10AM to guide anyone there who wants to caravan and/or carpool. I will NOT be staying for strays. All others... we will meet on location at about 11:00.
We have lots of new equipment including 5 new harnesses and 6 new figure 8s. This means that everyone can hit the rock and rappel just as quick as you can climb the stairs. No more waiting because we are all sharing the same 2 harnesses. We will be rappelling and rock climbing at the rock! There are a couple short (2-3 mile) trails as well.
The Backbone Rock Recreation Area features the rock itself, the adjacent Backbone Falls, swimming and fishing in Beaver Dam Creek (the small river that flows past and around the rock), hiking trails, and camping facilities (with water and restrooms). It is a long, narrow stone ridge that extends from adjacent Iron Mountain. "The rock" stands approximately 75 feet high and 20 feet thick and has a roadway that passes underneath. We can rappel or rock climb the face or simply enjoy a day of fishing or swimming in the river.

None - But if you have a climbing harness/shoes... bring them to get more time on the rock.
Other gear as appropriate for the activities you plan
We usually park on the right (if approaching it from the South) immediately before going under the rock. Near the Yellow Caution Sign seen in the photo above.
