Pig Roast at the Lake - NEW VENUE *READ*

  • May 26, 2014 · 10:15 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

FINAL CHANGES:  We lost our venue but luckily thanks to one of our members we now have use of the Eastman Recreational Facilities at Bays Mountain State Park.  Another consequence is that I will have to pre-cook the pork and camping is out.  But it will still be a great time.  Read the bold text below for directions.

What to bring:  Bring a side dish and a bag of ice for community use.  Bring your own drinks.  Bring a bathing suit, towels, and sunscreen.  Bring yard games, bikes, and the like.  Bring a lawn chair if you want to sit outside the shelter.

There is no fee... but if you want to bring a few $$ to help chip in for the pig, please do so.  The cost of this event to us is about $300-400.  A donation box will be in the gazebo for those who would like to contribute.

There is another reason we are doing this other than tradition.  I (Aaron), have been accepted to medical school and this will most likely be the last event I will share with all of you.  It has been a PRIVILEGE knowing each of you. There are very few things I am more proud of more than the NSO. And I have made no greater friends than the ones I have made here. I love all of you.

EXTRA EVENT WITHIN THIS ONE:

Andrew and Alanis are turning 7 and 8 respectively at the end of July and Beginning of August.  But they have requested to have a birthday party before we leave so they can celebrate with their friends.  Sometime around 3 we will have a minor ceremony with cake, kids games, etc.

Directions:  Take Exit 3.  If coming from Kingsport or JC you will turn left and head to the sign that points to Bays Mountain.  Turn Right.  When you come to the entrance you will come to a fork in the road.  There is a sign saying "Eastman Recreational Area" pointing to the right.  Take that right fork.  Then find shelter area # 38.  That's us.  Don't forget $4 parking.
