Harry Potter over Coffee

I know it's nothing new, but I'm a certified Harry Potter fan. Even in my later years (33 is old to love this, I guess), his universe rivals my imagination like Star Wars when I was a child. Join me for a chill discussion at Starbucks in Walnut Creek. Books versus movies, the future of the Potter world movie kids, what happened in the intervening 19 years. How they could make possible future movies or whatever we decide to talk about...Everything is fair game. We can end up just discussing the possibility of Nargles.

No problem Gene! I'll decide next week's topic this weekend for a Wednesday night if that works for everyone. Thanks to everyone for coming out!

Also next week if possible just for that week can we switch to Tuesday or Wednesday? Can't do Thursday.

Another rad evening of movie talk! Thanks everyone for showing up. Now if you will excuse me, I'm off to preorder my ticket for Harry Potter redux starring our new casting choices....

Hey folks, if you're not sure where you'd fit in the wizard world. Check out Pottermore:

    https://www.pottermore.com/en-us

It's free, endorsed by J.K. Rowling, and when you register you'll be placed in one of the 4 houses based on a small questionnaire, what kind of animal you choose, and which wand chooses you. It's fun.

Ooh, Pottermore is fun! I haven't logged in for a long time, so I'll have to look up my username later. But it's really great! There's so much extra information that Rowling didn't put in the novels! It's fun to get that extra background info. I think they're up to Book 3 or 4.

I was on the Pottermore express a few years ago when it was in its beta (stayed up all night waiting for it to open…yeah); but I think my username was CrimsonScale48. So…someone can challenge me at dueling and I can fail terribly.

I am a true Harry Potter film/book fan as well, but not sure I can make this. Sounds like fun!

Thanks for letting me know that! I will a) avoid Harry Potter for now because I'm way to busy already, and b) try to make it to one of the conversation meetups even if I don't know too much about the topic being discussed. :-)

but I've planted the seed. :-) One day you too will fall prey to this horrible addiction of loving HP. I will be wringing my hands in gentle appreciation! :-)

Glad to hear you're coming. It is really chill. If you like coffee and talking about movies, you're already an all star :-)

Don't shoot me. I have never seen a Harry Potter movie!

We rarely stay on topic for long, so you can come and enjoy the coffee & whatever random place the discussion takes us. p.s. Harry Potter is something once you start you don't stop until you've finished all 7 books and 8 movies a few times! so kiss a few weeks of your life goodbye to HP.

P.S. Evanna Lynch (who plays Luna) actually makes all of her accessories and certain costumes in the film :)

Ha! I did not know that. Luna is my favorite supporting character. I always thought Harry should have ended up with her. Looking forward to seeing you.

I've often said I have an unabridged knowledge of Harry Potter. Right down to a tattoo. I'd love to discuss!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
