Wine Bin Yappy Hour [Community Event]

NOTE: This community event is organized and sponsored by the Wine Bin and not by Columbia Dogs on the Go. It is open to the general public. It is not a "Meetup," but is posted here to inform our members and start a discussion. Your RSVP here is to let other members know you are planning to attend. It is not a registration for the event.

Bring your well-behaved dogs for another fun evening of wine and dog biscuits at the Wine Bin! There will be wine and Parfections chocolates for the adults and fun for everyone.

Dogs must be leashed. Donations and a portion of sales benefit animal charities.

The Wine Bin notes that "Yappy Hours will now be held on the first Fridays of each month (April through November) on Ellicott City's First Fridays, which allows visitors to enjoy evening shopping hours and entertainment throughout town."

Check the Wine Bin's website for more information!

always fun, but a nasty dog attacked my dog and pinned him on his back on the ground, yes, if you were there, that was my little red labradoodle. The woman took her dog and never even apologized. A young woman who works in an animal hospital, I think her name was Kayla, was nice enough to come over and examine Teddy for me. Appears to be ok but if you have an aggressive dog, please leave the damn thing at home.

I don't think the Wine Bin has anybody in charge that would intervene if there's a problem--but then again, I'm not sure. For our group walks, I try to ask new attendees if their dogs have any issues or problems that we need to be aware of. Sometimes shy dogs need some space and we try to respect those needs. If a dog acts very aggressively, I would ask the person to not attend our activities and would suggest consulting a trainer. (This hasn't happened in our 5 years--knock on wood.) And, yes, the person at the Wine Bin could well have been a CDOG member--we're open to all--but I certainly hope we won't encounter her!! Those experiences are darn scary! But, overall, I haven't heard of other instances like that at the Wine Bin in the years they've been doing it. So I do hope you continue going. And that she doesn't! Please give your pooch a virtual hug from me!

I hope you and your dog are okay. What did the dog that attacked your dog look like?

gemma, I am so sorry that happened. bad dogs should be left at home. Given how scared Jade is I'm glad we missed this one.

My dog won't be back with me (returning from a long deploment/TDY) by this event, but hopefully I'll be able to make the next one.

I want to join you, but does anyone come without their dogs? My dog is a lab, but he's very excitable when he's on leash. He loves other dogs, but he' s not calm. If I could turn him loose, he'd be okay. LOL

Yes you can come without your dog. I posted a similar thing the other day on here because my dog is very excitable too. :-)

I plan to come by and say hi since I haven't seen you all in quite a while. Lily most likely won't be joining me though. Last time it was way too much for her to handle calmly. Perhaps if I thoroughly exhaust her first...we'll see.
