We plan to nominate one ceilidh a month as the specific Ceilidh MeetUp and there will be a table reserved for our group with the Meetup Logo sign. Do come along and have some great nights out joining in the dancing, it really is great fun, especially with a group.

         If your New Year's Resolution is to get fit and get out more or do more socially, you can combine these with ceilidh dancing. Meantime, to quote the Scots Music Group website “If you’d like to brush up on your ceilidh dancing skills before coming along to one of our ceilidhs, why not drop into the friendly ceilidh dance classes.” It is relaxing, fun and a great way to keep fit.  There are classes at DanceBase, the National Centre for Dance, Edinburgh.  The drop in classes from Spring 2012 are on Thursday nights at DanceBase in the Grassmarket, Edinburgh.  Beginners (6:30 - 7:30pm) or Intermediate level (19:00 -20.30hrs) joining the end of the beginners class for a warm up.  The classes are great fun and a very relaxing way to get fit. To quote the DanceBase website, beginners classes are “A chance to learn those traditional dances and join in at the ceilidh. Aimed at socialising through dancing.            There will be a group of us at each of the monthly Scots Music Group ceilidhs at St Brides.  When booking your ticket with the SMG ceilidhs please add a note "Meetup Table" so we can get one reserved for us until 8:30pm when we may have to remove the reserved sign from the table.   Please note the numbers shown for Meetup members attending the ceilidhs is usually LESS than accurate as  several turn up regularly without having this noted on the Meetup site.  PLEASE NOTE  you need to book your tickets direct with the individual ceilidh organisers.

         Ceilidh Event Organisers are kindly asked to ensure their events are scheduled on different dates so we have at least one ceilidh each weekend.  In October 2011, we had none for several weekends and then a choice of 4 on 29th October 2011.  PLEASE check with www.MikesCommunity.com/diary _ On behalf of the regular dancers who support all your charities by attending the ceilidhs, please avoid the middle Friday which is Teannaich at South Hall (around 15th of the month) and the final Saturday of the month which is the SMG St Brides ceilidh, and check the dates including the first Friday in the month is usually Ken's ceilidh at Lauriston Hall.  

_____ It's a good idea to book or buy your ticket, direct with the ceilidh organisers, in advance as many ceilidhs sell out; some ceilidhs you can buy tickets on the door if you are lucky and arrive early (within 30 minutes of the start/doors open time).   Newcomers are advised to arrive early for the start of the ceilidh so we can meet at the table and say hello to one another.
