Winter Solstice Ceremony {Sunrise to Sunset}

The long fabled Winter Solstice of 2012 is upon us.

The Maya Calendar consists of several different counts, or cycles, all concentrically spinning within each other. While some interpretations of it's long count suggest that Friday marks the end of the world, it is worthy to note that the Maya did not count time in a linear fashion, with a beginning and end, but in a cyclical fashion, like gears in a clock turning.

According to most scholarly and traditional interpretations of the calendar, Winter
Solstice 2012 is not an end - but an alignment of many of the various counts coming to synchronize at their starting place, all at the same time.
If the Mayan Calendars are compared to music, this is the down beat, the one.

Many of us have experienced in the past year shifts in consciousness that bring enlightened awakening, cosmic harmony, and spiritual alignment. We hope Friday can be a day we celebrate this growth and connect our energies to continue it into the coming cycle.

To celebrate this cosmic alignment, we are honored to invite you to a community gathering to celebrate Winter Solstice, Friday December 21st, 2012. Read below for details.  The circle is "come as you can, leave as you must" and we welcome you to join in some of the activities planned, or simply find a spot to attune with the cosmic alignment in your own personal meditation.  In either case, we are honored to hold space in the garden and share this auspicious energy with you.

6:00am GATHERING BEGINS. Day begins with seated and/or walking meditation under the Bodhi Tree with a fire to keep warm and centered by. Honoring the Buddhist tradition, this period of time is observed in Noble silence.

A global meditation is taking place at 11:11 GMT - or 6:11 AM EST. Please join us as we gather our energy in meditation under the Bodhi tree alongside a global movement. (More info:

7:14am SUNRISE. As the Sun pops over the horizon we will call out with our voice the name of the Sun in the Mayan tongue, K'in, 21 times to herald the Sun and a new era for our planet.

7:30-8:30 am YOGA led by Naomi Bourassa.
After welcoming the Sun with our voice, we will welcome and energize the day and new solar year with meditation in movement and breath, moving energy through our body

8:30 - 10am RHYTHM CIRCLE. Bring your instrument or use one of our community pool. Honor the day and continue the meditation by finding harmony within yourself and within our community

10am - 11am MORNING DHARMA SHARING CIRCLE. During this hour we will each share our personal insights, blessings, troubles and prayers for the new solar year.

11am - 12noon Breakfast/
Lunch. The super-energetically-charged food served daily at Dandelion Cafe, right next to the garden, is a great choice to keep your vibrations high through the observance of this day.

12:21pm THE LOVE NOTE MOVEMENT. We will send a “love note” {via text, email or old fashion hand written letter} to someone you haven’t talked to in a while saying you are thinking of them OR that you are thankful for having them in your life.

1:30pm - 5:30pm Open Time for Personal Spiritual Practice. Music, Art, Meditation, Vocal Resonance, Chanting, Letter Writing, Intention Setting, Yoga, Breath Work, Reiki, Crystal Bowls, Massage, etc. We will have several different tools and supplies available for you, or bring your own.

5:34pm SUNSET. As the sun sets, we will call its name, K'in, again for 21 times in Mayan mantra.

After sunset, we will continue to hold space in the garden as energy flows through the circle.

The rule for the day is "Come as you can, Leave as you must." Join us at 6 am, or whenever you are able to visit.

Also to note, our dear friend Kate Beloved Levensohn will be holding spirit through a singing bowl circle at the Florida School of Holistic Living at 7 pm.
