it sounds like the secret lake won't be a secret for long! and that IS a good thing. Through mid december I have gigs thurs nights, but after that I will be out at the lake more often (bit far) I'm sure Seaweed, Alan, and the secret lake regulars will develop a great gathering.

It sounds exciting! Let's put some of Alan's experience from DC to use, drummers and dancers! Seaweed is an amazing drummer as well. I'm sure she will help create a solid foundation to grow from.

thanks everyone for getting the passion for drumming out in this discussion and individual feedback. It is nice to see.

Happy Drumming!
p.s. See you at Paralounge!

Well.... Seeing as how I do live only 5 min. from there, and now that I don't have a regular Thursday night band practice, I suppose I should step up.

What exactly has the attendance each week for the last month been like? Where in the park is the drumming supposed to be at? What time do we have to stop exactly? Has there ever been a problem drumming there? When more people did attend, what was the basic experience level? Anyone know? (I've only gone like once or twice, and that was back when it just got started.)

I think that with a bit of effort this drum circle could be rockin'. We just have to make it happen...

Therefore, I'd like to offer up my time to do this if I can get at least one other person to help me organize.

Michael & Other Drummers,

Hi, once again my name is Alan and I was the one who sent the email about being new to this forum and being the only one @ last Thursday nights drum circle (I believe that's what started this whole discussion). While I am a newbie to the group and have yet to participate in any of these events I am bummed @ the lack of participation these events are currently seeing. As a note, I planned on attending yesterday's Monday night djembe class, but it too was cancelled due to poor attendance.

As I mentioned in a previous email, I recently relocated from the DC metro area where I unfortunately had to leave behind a performing drum and dance group I had assembled. It was a mixed cultured group mostly centered around african drum and dance. I am definitely missing the opportunity to drum and meet the good people that cultural drumming attracts. I really hope that we can rejuvinate some of these gatherings, and I will gladly volunteer myself, my instruments, and some of my time to help coordinate or lead this Thursday night event if that is what's needed to keep it alive.

Thanks for the inputs and feedback from those of you who have filled me in on the current status of things.

Best Regards,
Alan

Apparently Justin has moved away to Tennessee. I have not heard from Justin in many months and over this same period the Thursday night circle has been getting worse and worse as far as attendance goes anyways. I know this was the original event that got the Meetup group started, but without a strong organizer and active local crowd, it does the community at large no good to continue the posts on the public calandar. So with this I'm asking for your help. Is anyone interested in taking on the responsibility of organizing Thursday nights at Secret Lake? If so, great let me know and we'll throw it to the group for a vote. And if no one is interested, we'll simply remove the Thursday night events off the calandar as a regular event. Thanks for your help, Michael----------------------------------------------------------------
