NJ Single Hiker/Adventurers, Ages 50+, for hiking/socializing/activities.   No kids/no pets. Please take a few minutes to read through this so you really understand who we are !

Life's responsibilities are freeing up more time for ourselves. Can you use a little more socializing/connecting with others with the added benefit of getting some physical fitness into the mix? This is a great opportunity to meet some nice, new people--don't miss out!! Just show up-the rest is easy!

• Bring your own snacks, drinks, comfortable slid-resistant footwear/hats, bug spray, sunscreen etc.  Hiking shoes/boots for the hikes are best.
• Anything other than a light drizzle will cancel the  official/"posted" hike, but hey "it's a free country"-so if a hike is "officially" canceled by the organizer (or the person who posted it)but  some members decide to go anyway-that's o.k.  People can do all/part/or even add some length to the original posted hike.
• It's a good idea to not allow anyone to be left alone-if someone gets too tired, etc. we can take turns accompanying/staying back with that person.  Just try to be mindful of all safety issues. Bring index card with your name/name and phone #of 2 emergency contact persons to keep in your pocket on each excursion.  And, if you need to take a rest, just let us know. 
• The group generally decides when to stop/break and for how long and thus far-this seems to have worked out well.  ENJOY!!!!!
• Please keep track of when your $5 yrly. fee is again due.  Dues  payable to organizer thru paypal at pmedallip@yahoo.com or mailing to Pat Medallis, 706 Bermuda Dr. Branchburg, NJ 08853.  Or, put in envelope with your full name/hand to Pat/Shannon at one of the hikes.  Very occasionally, some venues have a small entrance fee.  If carpooling, each passenger should give the driver their share of cost gas for the round trip.
• YOUR SAFETY IS YOUR OWN RESPONSIBILITY!
• Looking forward to meeting each and everyone of you!   Let's all do our utmost to keep this a supportive/positive-no pressure event!!!! No criticism please. ;)
• While most of our current active members are from Central NJ, we’re really interested in exploring North and South Jersey as well. We encourage members from North and South to join us and post hikes/activities!
• Current membership list is huge, though we have a much smaller core group of people attending hikes/activities. We’d like to be able to keep better track of members and dues etc. If you want to continue membership in this group (and we really hope you do), please let us know by; attending a hike/activity, paying dues, or sending an email. In the future, we will likely begin discontinuing members who aren’t active, paid, or have not contacted us. Of course you are always welcome and encouraged to rejoin in the future if you find you are able to be an active member.
• Dues are $5 a year and those funds pay for the website (Meetup must be paid). Check out the payment section to make payment, or you can give Pat/Shannon the cash/check at an activity if you prefer.
• As always, any member can post! For hikes, the person who posts is not expected to be an expert on that particular hike. Please feel free to post a hike you think looks great, one you have always wanted to do, even if you’ve never been there yourself. For hikes, the only requirement is that you must be certain the location is open/accessible, and appropriate for a two hour hike –generally 4-6 miles. You can feel free to post longer hikes as well. Please post a good address/GPS, or directions.
• Feel free to post more than one hike for the same day. If you aren’t able to travel to a hike, go ahead and post one closer to you. It's easy to post just follow the cues.
• If you don’t know how to post/ aren’t comfortable posting, no problem. Let Pat, Shannon, or another member know and we will post it for you.  Feel free to make suggestions for venues.
• We are more than hikes! Members can also post other activities. For example, in the past we have gone out to dinner, seen a comedy show, movies, biked,  had a fabulous weekend camping trip, soon we will be camping again/rafting the Lehigh River, and kayaking Merrill Creek/may do a dinner cruise around Manhattan/go to museums-and go to grounds for sculpture.
• Most importantly, we are an easy going, flexible group. No critics please. If we get lost on a hike, no problem – we’ll figure it out together. If the hike/activity is a bust, no problem-we’ll go to lunch and have a good time anyway. We’re primarily getting together for the friendship, fun, exercise and of course the laughs.
• Please do "NOT" rsvp if not attending an event, only if you plan on attending but if you did rsvp-you are expected to attend (barring unforseen circumstances)and if you did rsvp and can't make it change your rsvp-so we can get a true headcount at the activity site.
• Don't hesitate to join us-we look forward to meeting you !! You'll feel immediately comfortable!
