Café Inquiry (Grand Rapids)

Café Inquiry is a casual event starting with a short 10-15 minute introduction of the day's topic followed by open discussion. At 11:15 we will break for coffee/brunch and a chance to socialize.

Visit the CFI Michigan Event Calendar for upcoming topics.

Members are welcome to propose and schedule a topic which would be of interest toward establishing a secular society based on science, reason, freedom of inquiry, and humanist values. Please contact Geoffrey Saint if you have a topic that you would like to discuss at an upcoming Café Inquiry.

"Red, Yellow, and Green Laws" with Bob Collins. Bob will be speaking about laws that involve "fair" warnings and involve penalties to control behavior. Imagine traffic lights without the intervening yellow light, soccer without the yellow warning card, the woman (or guy) who gives no warning about sexual advances beginning to go over the line, counting to three out loud as a caution to a child to command compliance. He will speak more generally about how penalties work from a social/behavioral perspective.
