read the link- really sounds interesting, can appreciation of the natural world give us the things that we ordinarily expect from religion?

It's not required, but it would be helpful if people read the wikipedia link mentioned in the description above, prior to the meeting. It gives a good overview of the subject.

Good question Lynne. Well, I'm going to do my part to make sure we're open to any and all coherent ideas about Religious Naturalism, not just one's that might state it's impossible. I know many of the people who will be attending tomorrow night, a mature and respectful crowd, in my opinion. I think it will be worth your time to attend.. Hope to see you there.

Is this going to be an informational discussion about Religious Naturalism, or a discussion about why it is impossible?

That's what I would like to know. How can you extract spiritual feelings and a desire for a higher power from supernaturalism?

    Thanks for the offer- Michele.

Sam Harris advocates drug use. It's a way to explore spirituality?

    Excerpt from Sam Harris:
"...if I knew my daughter would eventually develop a fondness for methamphetamine or crack cocaine, I might never sleep again. But if she does not try a psychedelic like psilocybin or LSD at least once in her adult life, I will worry that she may have missed one of the most important rites of passage a human being can experience."
