This trip is geared toward our Tweens, but parents and siblings (10 years and older) are also welcome! Plan for a 2 hour visit, and all information and activities (history, mission, observation exercise, etc.) will be covered. No photography will be allowed.
For middle school level students the visit to the Center consists of a brief presentation focusing on monkey behavior and observation techniques, followed by a visit to the sheltered housing units where students conduct informal observations and collect data using an ethogram. Since it is conducted largely out of doors, students should be instructed to dress for the weather.
Tour may also feature an interactive presentation about science methods, a presentation about current center research projects, a visit to the outdoor corrals to observe the Center's rhesus and Japanese macaque breeding colonies, a Center scientist discussing his/her research, and and/or a tour of selected labs.
