Chips and Chat - Sazon on S. Lamar

  • Jun 3, 2013 · 7:00 PM

Austin has dozens of great Mexican/Tex-Mex restaurants, and on the first Monday (or other day as needed) of every month we'll try a new one (or an old one we liked) looking for the best chips and salsa.

Join fellow freethinkers as we solve the world's problems and fill our hunger for good food and good conversation.

Venues are selected from those suggested by members: send a suggestion for a restaurant you would like to include. The key considerations include good food (with vegetarian and gluten-free options) at reasonable prices; separate checks; either a separate area/room or a somewhat quiet location conducive to conversation.

We've been here before. Here is a link to the Sazon web page: http://www.sazonaustin.com/

I got to meet some very interesting people. I'm sorry there were too many sitting at the table to get to meet more. I'm terrible at remembering names but Jack Byrd, I found out, is an entertainer who is very knowledgeable about comedy and comedians and is a delight to talk to. There was a guest named Robin who has led a very interesting life, in spite of having to deal with many hurdles; I hope she joins us as a member. I didn't get to speak to her much, but Wendy is very friendly and seems to do a good job of keeping up with current events. Steve was kind enough to speak with me a little while after the dinner to discuss his basic political philosophy and political insights and his approach to secularism. I also met Rachel Harger and I hope to get to know her better in future CFI activities. All in all, great company! (And the food was delicious! Sazon was a great pick.) Looking forward to the next one!

I'm looking forward to meeting more Inquirers! Hopefully, I'll meet at least a few who share my interest in politics, history and the movies.
