National Day of Reason Dinner Out

National Day of Reason - a response to the national day of wishful thinking to make yourself feel that you have done something useful but without the work of actually doing something. [aka prayer]

After not praying we could go to Mt. Bonnell to see the sunset.

Looks like it will be too cloudy and cold to watch the sunset :(

Two related ideas for philosophical discussion:
    1) Thomas Jefferson owned slaves. 200 years from now, what aspects of our current behavior will people look back on and say "what were they thinking?"
    2) If we tried to be as rational as possible, individually or as a society, what would we change about what we currently do? Is trying to be as rational as possible a rational goal? If not, what is a better goal?

I'd be happy to help lead either discussion.

I'm not sure this will work at the dinner, but they sound good as a discussion group topic.

Both together would make good discussion topics.

New to atx. Was in a similar group where I used to live. Looking forward to Arpeggio

I won't be able to attend, but the Arpeggio Grill seems like a great rational choice. I had lunch there today, with the best gyro I've ever had--and I've had a lot of gyros! Nice atmosphere, too.
