Science Express: Cosmology with Brian Mulligan

An informal science experience. We will eat and discuss cosmology guided by someone who works in the field. Brian Mulligan is a graduate student in astrophysics at UT Austin. There will be an overview of cosmology in general and a specific focus on black holes in the early universe, and the first stars and galaxies of the universe.

Show up a little early, if you would like to get something to eat.

It was a bit more lecture and less discussion than I expected, but I had an interesting experience of talking about some of the more "out there" cosmological hypotheses with Brian Mulligan. This conversation suggested that some of the tantalizing science theories are nowhere near as seriously considered by the mainstream science, as popular magazines would like us believe. Here is my blog post about it: what happens when a skeptic's sense of wonder meets scientific reality:

Really great to get an expert lecture in a small, informal group setting. Was very disappointed I had to leave early for a prior engagement!
