This Austin Meetup was formed so people with a similar, secular understanding of the world could get together and build friendships, find support, exchange ideas and simply have fun! There are several events listed every month - from educational programs to social activities. You will find a Lecture Series, Discussion Group, a Secular Family Network for families with kids, a ladies-only group (Secular Suzies), two Book Groups, Community Volunteer Programs - most are free and new folks are always welcome. Most members do not attend all of the events all of the time (including group organizers) - but they are all for folks like us to get together as much as we can. The idea is to meet new people and to catch up with ones we have known a while. Most events are sponsored by the Center for Inquiry Austin; however some events that might interest CFI Austin members also get posted. Come be a part of the Austin secular community!
When it comes to religions and superstitions, are you "beyond belief?" If you consider yourself agnostic, an atheist, secular humanist, skeptic, bright, or freethinker, this is your community!
To become a paid member (FOC or Friend of the Center) visit the web page at http://www.centerforinquiry.net/. You will be supporting our secular community because most of the membership fee is returned to CFI Austin.
Starting around the end of 2014 and start of 2015 CFI-Austin will become an independent chapter. The local dues will be $30 per year ($45 for a household). At some point we will have an option on our web page (www.cfi-austin.org) to pay online. You also can mail dues to CFI-Austin, PO Box 300036, Austin, TX 78703. Please include information on members' names, telephone numbers, and email addresses.
