So, at this point we have at least twice the number of folks that can fit in a single tour. For this reason we will have two tours - unless we need to add a third. Right now we are having them Sep 23 and Dec 2. If I get further response, I will add Oct 27 as an option.

You have gotten this because you are on the 'go list,' but I need to have you indicate which you want to attend. Put the dates in order of preference unless you have no preference; then state "no preference." If you can attend only one then put down just that date. Note that Oct 27 is not yet an option, but, you could it in the list, in the event I need to add it later. In your reply please give the names of all persons who will attend, and ages, if not adults.

I will be sending you a liability release form that you will need to print out and sign; and then bring it with you to the tour. If you don't want to sign the release, then please let me know that you will not be coming.

btw the tour will take place at 5:30pm on the given date; I will send a confirmation of which date you can attend plus a map and directions once I get your preference response email.

One of our CFI Austin members, Michelle G., works in a high-tech lab at UT and has agreed to lead a tour of the lab for those who would like to see some of the stuff that shows us how cells, etc. work.
Among the devices available are a protein sequencer,  mass spectrometers (one we can play with).  We can also look at the DNA sequencers, RT PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) machines and the confocal, SEM (Scaning Electron Micros.), TEM (Transmission EM).
One way to do this would be to show up before one of the ESI lectures to tour the lab and then go to the lecture. If you would be interested in participating in such a tour, email me at [address removed] before Sep 13.
The ESI lectures this fall are Sep 23: Building Memories for Tomorrow; Oct 27: Astronauts, Robots, and Rocks; Dec 2: Your Eye, My Eye, and the Eye of the Aye-Aye. My feeling is that the Sep 23 talk might be the best fit, but let me know your thoughts.
