This is a group for drinks, food and informal discussion around all things skeptical: UFOs, ghosts, cryptozoology, alternative medicine, new age and new thought and pseudoscience.
Hosted by the educational charity the Centre for Inquiry (www.cfiontario.org) under its Committee for the Advancement of Scientific Skepticism (CASS). CASS is a national, fast response team which critically examines scientific, technological and medical claims in public discourse. Working with our expert advisers we address factual inaccuracies and misinformation in public debates by promoting evidence-based science. To achieve these ends CASS will work within the infrastructure of CFI to co-ordinate campaigns with them and other interested parties.
If you would like to get involved in other aspects of CASS, meetings will be held every first and third Monday of each month at CFI Ontario headquarters (2 College St., in downtown Toronto). E-mail William Mount (Vice-Chair) at havermayer@gmail.com or Pam Walls (Director, CFI Ontario) at pwalls@cficanada.ca
CFI also publishes Skeptical Inquirer magazine (www.csicop.org). Some of the founding members of CSI include scientists, academics, and science writers such as Carl Sagan, Isaac Asimov, Philip Klass, Paul Kurtz, Ray Hyman, James Randi, Martin Gardner, and Sidney Hook.
