Yes it was fun to chat with Jonathan and Chad from McGill. Thanks for the Winter Solstice chocolates ;-) Isabelle! That was a nice touch! But I didn't get to chat with you! I left at about 9:30... the roads to St-Lazare where snowy but OK.

You know, even though we had fewer people tonight, I had a great time. Fun conversations all around and I got to meet the incredible Téa! Plus, I met the new faces of the Freethought Association at McGill (and one of these faces looks like Tom Cruise). What's not to enjoy about a night like that?

There is a fair amount of snow dumped on Toronto and the weather map shows the snow moving into Montreal between 8 pm and 9 pm. Not sure if I will brave Montreal streets in my car.

If it holds off until then there should be no problem. Plenty of time to eat, drink and have some conversation.

At least this venue is located where a minimum of "Montreal streets" need to be navigated depending on the other end of your travel. Driving to Magnan's from Pointe Claire is pretty easy though it would be easier if they would reopen the ramp from 20 to 15S.

Sorry, but I can't make it. Call me a weather weenie, I guess. See you next time! :)

Looking forward to see a lot of folks tonight! If you are worried about snowstorms, think metro if this works for you! Station is Charlevoix on the Green Line. 5-minute walk to the Taverne from there!

I may still conjure courage to join you, should the promise of snow storm be broken in the next hour or so.

If anyone is looking for a topic of discussion for this Saturday, why don't you have a listen at Andrew's and my second podcast episode on the issue of secularity and the Charters of Quebec values. I'd be curious to hear your thoughts. Who's our guest? A Roman Catholic theologian. Don't diss him until you've heard him. As always, http://withinreason.podbean.com or iTunes.

well, within our local skeptics group we know Andrew and its all fun. But we do want outsiders/believers to listen to the podcast also, after all we do want to spread out our good word, it may come across the wrong way. Just like we sometimes make up our mind on religion by the way people behave, religious people will develop opinions on skeptics/atheists on how we all behave, collectively and individually.

If they would be doing these jokes while talking to the guests I would agree, but in my opinion it's important to keep the second part of the podcast lighter and funny, even with raunchy jokes. That's what makes them different from other podcasts on the same subject and I think that's why they will become very popular. :)

I'm afraid I won't make it this time either - have an annual Xmas party to go to. Enjoy!

Not that I want to resurrect this exhaustive discussion but... I stumbled upon the following article and it reminded me of the stance some of us took on a similar issue. Just because one person claims something doesn't mean they're telling the truth. Skepticism usually warranted. http://gawker.com/waitress-who-lied-about-anti-gay-receipt-has-told-far-w-1472830906
