We all love Paul Verhoeven's original 1987 sci-fi opus Robocop. At once a fast paced action thrill-ride and a scathing satire on consumerism, corporate takeover and mainstream Americana, Robocop offered audiences a viscerally violent, unflinching view of a not to distant future where our social institutions are company owned and machines enforced the law. The recently released reboot on the other hand, Roboflop, not so great. Lets gather for drinks in remembrance of Verhoeven's original masterpiece while we simultaneously lament over the subpar retread that just hammered the final nail into the franchise coffin.
