ARTEK returns to the the great large-scale sacred music of the 17th century, presenting masterpieces by Italians Claudio Monteverdi and Tarquinio Merula; German composer Johann Rosenmüller, well-known to ARTEK audiences from our stunning concerts in February 2012; and Marçin Mielczewski, the most famous, and astonishingly excellent, 17th-century Polish composer. Over twenty musicians will participate in this festive performance!
Featured artists will be the musicians of Les Sacqueboutiers de Toulouse, the world-famous French historical brass ensemble of cornetti and sacbuts. The ARTEK singers, strings (led by Enrico Gatti), and continuo players will join them in full force to bring you another evening of glorious 17th-century masterpieces, directed by Gwendolyn Toth.
