Let's celebrate 2013 by joining our friends at CMS as they jump-start the spring season with a program of chamber favorites. CMS co-artistic directors David Finckel and Wu Han are joined by long-time collaborator violinist Philip Setzer for an evening of beloved works by Dvořák and Brahms. (As many of you know, Messrs. Finckel and Setzer are also members of the renowned Emerson String Quartet.)
An early champion of Dvořák, Brahms saw in the younger composer a kindred spirit, and encouraged him throughout his career. Brahms’ brooding E minor cello sonata complements Dvořák’s folk-tinged “Dumky” Trio and the heroic Trio in F minor. Afterwards, you are invited to a casual wine reception to mingle with others in the Rose Studio.
BRAHMS Sonata No. 1 in E minor for Cello and Piano, Op. 38
DVOŘÁK Trio in E minor for Piano, Violin, and Cello, Op. 90, “Dumky”
DVOŘÁK Trio in F minor for Piano, Violin, and Cello, Op. 65
Wu Han, piano
Philip Setzer, violin
David Finckel, cello
