The New York Chamber Music Meetup Message Board › NY Chamber Musicians: May 11th -- Schubert's Trout with pianist Gilbert Kalish
Please join us at the next performance of New York Chamber Musicians this Saturday, May 11th at
The DiMenna Center for Classical Music on 37th St at 7 in the evening.
The program features pianist Gilbert Kalish and composer Gabriela Lena Frank. The repertoire includes:
Franz Schubert, Piano Quintet in A major, Op. 114, D. 667 ("The Trout")
Gabriela Lena Frank,
Sueños de Chambi: Snapshots for an Andean Album ("Dreams of Chambi")
Gabriela Lena Frank, Quijotadas
This is a very special opportunity to hear Schubert's Trout, perhaps the most beautiful
piece of chamber music written, played by multiple Grammy nominated Gil Kalish along with
the resident NYCM artists.
We are also privileged to present two pieces by Gabi Frank, one of today's leading contemporary
composers. Each piece will be introduced by Gabi herself, sharing her insights on the compositions.
We will end the evening with an opportunity for the audience to interact with Kalish, Frank, and
with all the NYCM resident artists.
NYCM's concerts leverage the unique, acoustically-optimized venue at DiMenna to create an intimate
salon experience, just as chamber music was originally intended for. Attendees find themselves seated
within feet of the artists, encircling them, directly feeling the flow of music and emotions. The
spirit of the evening is relaxed and convivial. The artists frequently introduce the pieces they
will be performing, adding their own personal impressions of the music.
The evening will begin with complimentary wine being served.
Radio station WQXR is our media sponsor for this May 11th concert.
