columbia convention center (map)
Columbia, SC will be hosting POSSCON. Use the comments or message board here to organize rides. I suspect that I will be travelling down for the morning of the 16th.
Started in 2008, the Palmetto Open Source Software Conference (POSSCON) quickly grew in 2009 to an event with more than 200 attendees from four (4) states (South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, and Florida), twenty (20) speakers, and more than twenty private and government entity participants. In fact, POSSCON grew so fast in 2009 we've moved the 2010 conference to a new location - the Columbia Convention Center in the heart of Columbia, SC.
Extraordinary steps have been taken to ensure the 2010 event continues to grow and attract more attendees and participants. More nationally known speakers have been added to the agenda, additional partnerships with top media outlets have been formed to ensure nationwide awareness, an additional conference and rtaining day have been added to provide more content, a CIO/CTO Forum has been added to specifically target the managers who can benefit from OSS the most, and the new location is the very best available. For all these reasons, we expect interest and attendance to increase substantially.

hey jim,
wondering if you could post a reminder of POSSCON. We have a
flyer made up here
http://www.posscon.org/ruby-rails-flyer/![]()
specific for ruby and rails folks.
Also last night we secured several $500 Apple gift certificates
one of which will be given at a drawing on Friday of the
conference and limited only to the Developer group. A little
added bonus for attending the developer track.

Jim, Thanks for posting this on the meetup calendar. POSSCON will be a great opportunity for Charlotte area Rubyists to meet and hear from the top Ruby, Git, and Open Source talent in the United States. We have both Scott Chacon and Chris Wanstrath from Github and Yehuda Katz from Engine Yard (and the Rails 3 team). I know for a fact that Wanstrath is going to personally teach the hands-on git session on Saturday too. Free to students, almost free to anyone else, please come.
