Ruby 101

Come one, come all, to the local Ruby event you've all been waiting for! Bring a laptop and go through some lessons with the most fabulous group of Ruby programmers here in town! No prior experience necessary. Our staff will be able to help you through installation, running your first Ruby program, and getting you on the path towards learning Ruby. If you've already done some of those, so much the better! We'll make sure you have something interesting to work on.

Whether you're a programmer trying to rediscover the joy of programming, or a newcomer to the field wanting to discover whether it's for you, I invite you to RSVP that you're coming.

We'll be deciding a venue based on how much response we get, so please, if you want to come, RSVP YES now and change it later if you can't make it.

Schedule:
7:00 - 8:00 PM: If you have never touched Ruby before, during this hour, we will get you set up with everything you need to learn the language and have fun with others doing the same.
8:00 - 9:00 PM: Our focus will turn a bit more toward providing background on the language, and having your work some exercises.

[Update] I've rescheduled this event because of mistakes on my part of not lining up a meeting location. If you're unable to attend the new date, I'm very sorry! I hope to see you there, and look for an announcement of a meeting location this coming week.

I thought tonight went very well. There was a lot of great energy in the room, and people really seemed to be interested. Thanks so much for the opportunity to talk about Ruby!

Tax Management Associates is looking for a Jr Ruby Programmer, possibly someone programming in PHP looking to make the jump to Ruby. We'll be bringing Pizza to this meetup so post what kind you would like in the comments. See http://bit.ly/tmaruby for the posting.
