Hack Night

The monthly hack night seemed to get a good response for the first Monday of the month, so we'll try again. This time, we're providing better directions.

Area 15 has a large grass parking lot near Davidson. Drive past this along one side of the building until you pass not only Area 15, but also a house on the Area 15 grounds. Take a left turn, followed by another immediate left turn into the primary Area 15 parking lot, then park. You will see a set of stairs there. Take them, walk in the white double doors (which will be unlocked). Follow the flow of the building forward and to your left, and you will see the hacking area!

After attending this one meetup, I was able to get a job programming Ruby!** Thanks, Charlotte Ruby!

I really enjoyed Hack Night and the after party. Each member was humble, generous, and genuinely eager to learn and help. Awesome! Looking forward to the next meetup!

Meeting inspired me to pull out the Mac (Macbook 1.1) - ordered ram and snow leopard - but I have to stay plugged in since the battery won't charge which is a pain - probably not the battery - Anyone know where to get old Macs fixed - I realize this isn't a Ruby question

Hmm... I'll be able to get started on my own. I have a great Mac Pro setup at home--just nothing portable. Maybe you'll have more of a lecture style event at some point that will make more sense for people like me.

Start Charlotte doesn't have any computers to loan that I'm aware of, but if you attend without one, I'm sure we could give you some notes on sites to visit for your return home.

I've been meaning to learn Rails for a while, so maybe I can learn from all of you while I'm teaching myself. I guess this is a B-Y-O-Computer?
