Short and challenging. This I hope to be the most challenging hike to date. With right pace, all the Sherando Lake veterans should be able to make it and feel good about it!
Same rules apply as for the Spy Rock:
The meeting point is Rockfish Gap. Google map:

Off 64W Take first exit to Waynesboro (exit 99), and bear right as you approach 250 of the exit ramp. Soonest you pass underneath 64, on your right side will be an old convenience store and gas station. Behind it is large parking lot with visitor center. Meeting time is 10am at which point we caravan up to 27th mile marker!
Since we have 27 miles to drive on the parkway alone, I would strongly encourage you to consider carpooling from Charlottesville! Even tho' we are all about hiking, with recent almost daily hikes in gas prices (no puns) it would be great time to figure out way to share traveling expenses.
Dogs are welcome, but pups will affect how many people can car-pool together in each vehicle. If you do bring your dog along, be considerate of the fact that traveling expenses will be higher for those riding along. To be fair to everyone, unless group riding along decides differently, I would suggest to count each animal as a person if it occupies a passenger seat. I.E. I have four seats in my Toyota, so Minnie and I will cover half the cost of the ride (to be truthful - I will - she's broke!) . Make sense? :) Also since this is a new trail, be sure to bring along a leash. I do not know what (if any) hazards we'll encounter along the way.
Hiking boots are mandatory. Bring plenty of water. I'll have extra water and LifeSavers if anyone runs out!
Rain cancels the hike. Check this page a day prior to the event, or call my cell on the day of the event.
